My name is Robert. I am blessed to live on California’s Central Coast, possibly the most beautiful place on the earth to live (and if that statement doesn’t get me a lot of comments, I don’t know what will). I am a husband, a father of two (son and daughter, both teenagers) and a step-father of two (also teenagers).
I prayed the Sinner’s Prayer and became a Christian in 1977. I started following Christ and became a disciple in 1992. The fifteen years in between weren’t particularly bad years, and they weren’t particularly good, either. I don’t have one of those monumentally dramatic conversion stories that some have. And I know that all that cross-carrying I would have been doing wouldn’t necessarily have made my life any easier.
But here I am, another fifteen years down the road, and knowing what I know now, I wonder what those previous years might have been like. I only just recently realized what it was that turned the corner for me on September 3, 1992, that I couldn’t have possibly understood in 1977, so it’s not like it could have happened any other way. I’ll post about the revelation some time.
But I still wonder. And I guess that is also what this blog is about.
Isn’t it interesting… the path and the growth? You couldn’t be who you are right now without all of the mistakes along the way. God is patient. He waits till you are ready to accept. He doesn’t have the instant gratification need that we humans do. Only that we (his/her/its) children learn and grow and become healthy.
Im glad your journey has brought you here. Im glad that it has brought you to our group. I believe that you are such a strong part already.
Amazing what this medium can do … isn’t it? Thank you for teaching me each day.
Oh, the path’s been pretty bumpy at times, but I am thankful for every single pothole. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that everything has a purpose, although the purpose may be incomprehensible to us.
And thank you for bein’ you.
Awww you two are so cute! Jokes but that aside what Amber says is tright, a strong part indeed. What you say however about California I don’t know only seen it in the movies but you can’t beat having a pet lion called Simba now can you!
Thanks for all your thoughts and kind words my friend, hope the sun is out on your side of the world :D
Oh, it’s flirting with 90 Fahrenheit right now. And I have a small cat named Polly… closest I can get to a lion.
Thanks for your comment!
